CEREC® Technology for Natural-looking Restorations and Fast Treatment Times
Advanced CEREC® technology allows Dr. Robert Hawke in Tucson, AZ, to provide high-quality dental restorations faster than ever before. In fact, Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC®) can fabricate restorations in about one hour, paving the way for same-day dental crowns and porcelain veneers. Patients can receive their complete restorative treatment in a single convenient visit, without the need for temporary restorations and additional procedures.
The CEREC® Treatment Process
Your CEREC® treatment begins by the doctor preparing your tooth for dental crown or porcelain veneer placement. If you are receiving a crown, Dr. Hawke will remove the decayed or compromised portion, and shape the remaining healthy tooth structure. Veneers patients will have a very small amount of enamel removed so that the veneer can rest atop the tooth.
We are proud to fabricate restorations that resemble real enamel, and deliver comfortable, convenient patient experiences.
Next, digital scans of your teeth are taken, eliminating the need for messy wax impressions. After analyzing the images and making adjustments, Dr. Hawke will design your restoration. The design information, including the shape and shade of the restoration, is sent to the in-office milling machine.
From a solid piece of dental grade porcelain, the milling machine creates extremely precise restorations complete with smooth surfaces and articulated edges. After the restoration is produced, it is sintered for added strength and then glazed for an enhanced appearance that closely mimics natural enamel.
Once the restoration is finished, about one hour from start to finish, Dr. Hawke will ensure the restoration fits comfortably and complements your bite patterns. Finally, he will secure it in place, allowing you to leave our office with a restored and natural-looking smile.

Unique CEREC® Benefits
Dr. Hawke takes full advantage of the powerful CEREC® system, using it for scans, designs, implantology, glazing and other aspects of the restoration fabrication process. This comprehensive approach to restorations affords patients many outstanding benefits, such as:
- Needing only one dental visit to prepare for and place your restoration
- Avoiding temporary prosthetics between dental visits
- Receiving digital scans instead of messy traditional impressions
- Enjoying natural-looking restorations, due to specialized staining and glazing processes
- Receiving restorations that are biocompatible and metal-free
- Preserving more tooth structure
- Enjoying durable restorations with a reduced risk of fracture and increased chance of long-term success
In addition to the tooth-colored restoration material being aesthetically pleasing, it also closely matches the composition of your natural tooth structure. This means that the restoration and enamel expand and contract at nearly equal rates. With less pressure on the tooth over time, the chance of a fracture is considerably reduced. Additionally, the materials bond easily and strongly to your tooth, allowing Dr. Hawke to conserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
