Gain an Enhanced, Lustrous Smile with Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are porcelain shells that fit over the front surfaces of your teeth to cover almost any cosmetic flaw. Cracks, chips, discoloration, and other imperfections that detract from the appearance of your smile can be corrected with porcelain veneers. Dr. Robert Hawke in Tucson, AZ, offers high-quality porcelain veneers fabricated with advanced CEREC® technology, allowing for a convenient single treatment appointment.
Candidates for Porcelain Veneers
Most patients with aesthetic imperfections that affect one or more teeth are candidates for veneers. Oral health conditions, such as gum disease or dental decay, will need to be treated before veneers can be placed. If you have any of the following aesthetic issues, you may be a good candidate for porcelain veneers:
- Teeth that are discolored or stained
- Misaligned teeth
- Overlapping or crowded teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Broken, cracked, or chipped teeth
- Teeth that are misshaped or crooked
Placing Porcelain Veneers
The first phase of treatment involves your consultation. During this initial visit, Dr. Hawke will assess your oral health and smile to determine if porcelain veneers are best suited to meet your smile goals. If porcelain veneers align with your needs, you will collaborate with Dr. Hawke to determine the shape, size, and shade of your veneer. At this time, Dr. Hawke will use wax-up models to illustrate potential results achieved with veneers, helping to ensure your results closely align with your vision. Many patients also choose to undergo whitening at this time. This ensures the teeth which will not receive veneers match the brightness of your new smile.
The next phase of treatment is preparing your teeth for veneer placement. Dr. Hawke will remove a small portion of enamel from the surface of each treated tooth. Extremely conservative in his approach, Dr. Hawke will only remove enough enamel to create sufficient space for the veneer.
Our veneers are crafted using IPS e.max® porcelain that is renowned for its durability and reliability, and has a translucency that resembles real enamel.
Next, digital impressions will be taken of the prepared teeth. This information will be sent directly to the milling machine that fabricates your veneer onsite. The veneer will also be stained and glazed to mimic the sheen and translucency of natural enamel, a process that also takes place onsite for speed and convenience.
The final phase involves placing your veneers. Your teeth will be cleaned and buffed to facilitate the bonding process. Dr. Hawke will verify that your veneer matches in shape and shade to your natural smile and fits in with your bite patterns. The veneer will then be positioned over the front of your tooth and secured with dental cement.
